Pride Rainbow Laser Mani
A late wish for Happy Pride to all Vancouverites! The festivities are over, and many a hangover is being nursed, but being the long weekend here in BC, there is still that great party/festival/colourful energy in the air. I decided to do a second rainbow mani to the sister rainbow mani of the weekend, Arctic Sunrise Rainbow, I did a few days ago (here) and try the laser method using striping tape.
Ashley at Ashley Is Polish Addicted did a great rainbow laser mani in her article here, so I followed that method.
Thumb to pinky base colours: Sinful Colors Amethyst, Girly Bits Glo Worm, GB Arctic Sunrise, China Glaze Purple Panic, GB Banana Hammock. The cover colour is A England Tristam which turned out to be perfect for the job because it is a great one coater, dark but still colourful and HOLO, of course!
The bright neon colours like Glo Worm and Purple Panic I love the best. They really stand out and are so complimentary with the purple in Tristam. Amethyst is the least contrasting, but I still love it, and you’ll see why in the next few photos. It is a more subtle difference, but because Tristam is raised (kind of like embossing) and has a different texture (holo compared to creme) it is a neat effect.
I have to say, my favourite moments during Pride was when my guy friend grabbed my hand and thrust it at his friends to show off my mani. He did this twice. He also proceeded to talk about my Burberry mani from last week, and it also turns out he’s been telling people about my blog as well. He’s also single, gorgeous, great with kids and a doctor …. and gay sad for me but lucky for some special guy out there. <sigh>
I thought I’d also spam you with some photos I took at Pride parade. These are in no particular order. Enjoy!
Viagra had a very “stand up” float, so to speak har har har ….
This chick had amazing hair. I’d love to do this for next year.
Or maybe THIS hairstyle instead!
I also learned about an iPhone app votepride.ca where you can get a list of the parade organizations in order before the parade starts so you can vote from a scale of 1 to 5 for each float/organization. I voted for my favourite ones afterwards, but I really wish I had known about the app beforehand. Next year!
In the evening I attended the Vancouver Men’s Chorus annual singalong event Big Gay Sing since I have many friends in the choir. It’s basically like mass karaoke with the gorgeous men from the choir leading with costumes and choreography. There are jello shots involved as well (which is also why the camera got forgotten about after a while lol).
Hope everyone had as much fun as I did! Happy Pride!
